We decommission the copper network.
All technology needs to be replaced sooner or later with newer and better technology. By 2026, the entire copper network will be phased out.
All technology needs to be replaced sooner or later with newer and better technology. By 2026, the entire copper network will be phased out.

The transition to modern technology offers great opportunities, while the phase-out needs to be carried out responsibly. No one should be left without the possibility of a new solution. According to the law, all households and businesses have the right to telephony and broadband with 10 Mbit/s. This applies to permanent addresses.
As the owner of the copper network, we want everyone affected by the transition to receive information and guidance. Our assessment is that all affected households and businesses will be able to obtain a new telephony and broadband solution from operators in the market.

We urge all operators to communicate with their service providers and end customers. It is important to inform end customers as soon as possible so that they can choose a new connection with you, or find a solution from another provider.
All end customers, regardless of service provider, who currently use the copper network as a carrier for safety alarms, must be informed that they need to contact the municipality for a new solution. There is no consolidated information about which users of the copper network have safety alarms.
If you cannot offer a new solution, terminate your end customers well in advance before the service ends, regardless of the terms between your wholesale customers and end customers
In the file, you will find the municipalities whose copper networks and tele stations are affected. We update the file and inform via newsletters in case of changes. Last updated 2025-08-20.

In the event of a fault report in areas where the copper network is to be decommissioned and the closure date is less than 7 months away, we will not send out a service technician or rectify the fault.
In very special cases of a critical societal nature, it is possible to apply for an exemption via Service and Operations/Fault Reporting. Telia Wholesale reserves the right to charge a fee and decide whether the fault should be rectified or not.
Any additional service packages will also cease when less than 7 months remain before the closure. Selected service packages may appear in the systems but will not be invoiced.

Terminations are sent out as follows:
For all copper-based products such as telephone subscriptions, IP Stream Enhanced, Copper Access, SDH Sweden, Ethernet Sweden, and Ethernet Nordic, at least 12 months before the closing date. In practice, as soon as we have identified the affected accesses.
