How fiber attenuation works

When you need a theoretical attenuation value for your planned connection, you can order Preliminary fiber attenuation. The values are stated in dB for the wavelengths 1310 and 1550 nm and form the basis for the Fiber Attenuation add‑on. When you order the attenuation guarantee, the actual attenuation of the connection must not exceed the preliminary value by more than two dB at delivery.

The add‑on can be ordered for Multi User, Multi User Dual, and Transport, and is particularly useful in networks where distance and cable quality require careful dimensioning.
